Eddie Howe has confirmed Newcastle will not invest in the January transfer window following the 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.

Howe said he will look to get the best out of his current squad, rather than searching for reinforcements while being limited by PSR.

The Magpies invested heavily in the summer, signing Nick Woltemade, Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga and Malick Thiaw following the departure of Alexander Isak.

"We have the players that we have, and we have to find a solution with those players," he said in his post-match press conference.

"Theres no point me thinking we need another type of player at this moment because its not going to happen.

"The next chance well really have to change the squad will be the summer.

"Its about getting the best out of the players we have. I dont think we played badly, but certainly around the goal, we could have done better of course."

Some home fans at King Power Stadium chanted for Cifuentes to be "sacked in the morning" during the game.

Owner and chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha is over from Thailand and watched the game from the directors' box. He has told Your Site News no decision has yet been taken, but he wants to talk to his senior advisers, and Cifuentes himself, before making a decision about the manager's future.

Leicester are awaiting the outcome of an independent commission hearing on alleged PSR breaches. Were they to be given a nine-point deduction as punishment for that, they would be outside the Championship relegation places only on goal difference.
