Nwaneri nets on Marseille debut

Ethan Nwaneri scored on his Marseille debut as the Ligue 1 side beat Lens 3-1 at home.

Nwaneri completed his loan move to Marseille on Friday and was named in the starting line-up one day later.

Amine Gouiri opened the scoring for the hosts in the third minute before Nwaneri doubled the lead 10 minutes later.

Gouiri added to his tally after the restart, with Rayan Fofana's goal for Lens merely a consolation on the evening.

Latest from Your Site News' Anthony Joseph:

Birmingham City have made an approach for Deportivo Alaves winger Carlos Vicente.

Its understood the club first made contact during the week, but walked away due to the hefty fee quoted by the LaLiga club.

However, Birmingham have arrived back at the table and are in talks again to sign the 26-year-old.

Your Site News understands they face competition from Ajax, but the Vicente is believed to prefer a move to the Championship club.

Swansea interested in Birmingham's Furuhashi

Latest from Your Site' Anthony Joseph:

Swansea City have expressed an interest in Birmingham City striker Kyogo Furuhashi.

Its understood the club wish to be informed of any developments on the player, if Birmingham are open to letting him leave before the end of the transfer window.

Swansea are in the market for a striker after Adam Idah was ruled out for three months with a hamstring injury. The club are sounding a number of targets.

Your Site News reported that Celtic had made a loan approach earlier in the window, but boss Martin ONeill later revealed that a deal for Kyogo was unlikely.

Its believed Birmingham see the Japan international as a valuable member of the squad. Kyogos high wages could also be an issue for Swansea.

The 31-year-old is keen to fight for his place, but is also mindful about game time ahead of this summers World Cup.

Slot: I need all my players | VVD: I want Robbo to stay

Andy Robertson played 45 minutes for Liverpool against Bournemouth on Saturday, despite being linked with a move to Tottenham.

Robertson came on at half-time for Milos Kerkez as Liverpool lost 3-2 to Bournemouth.

When asked about Robertson's future, Liverpool manager Arne Slot said: "I need all my players. I always knew that another 90 minutes for Milos Kerkez against an intense Bournemouth side was not a possibility so I already knew I had to bring Robertson in.

"But I had already made one substitution, so you only have two windows left so I brought him on at half time to make sure Kerkez stays available for the rest of the season. I have to manage that. The last thing we need is another injury."

Virgil van Dijk added: "I speak to him everyday, hes my vice captain. Robbo is a very important member of our team and I want him to stay. Whatever happens. Well see."

Bannan due for Millwall medical

Latest from Your Site' Keith Downie:

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan is due to undergo a medical with Millwall on Monday.

The 36-year-old bid an emotional farewell to the Wednesday fans after their 2-0 defeat at Bristol City.

The former Scotland international played his 477th game for The Owls today.

Bannan has been at Hillsborough for a decade and wanted to play one last game before sealing a switch away from the club.

St Louis City in talks for Aberdeen midfielder Polvara

Latest from Your Site News' Anthony Joseph:

St Louis City are in talks to sign Aberdeen midfielder Dante Polvara.

It is understood that the 25-year-old is looking to move back to the USA for family reasons.

His contract expires in the summer, and the Dons have been trying to extend his deal.

Polvara was left out of the Aberdeen squad in their 6-2 home win over Livingston on Saturday, with interim boss Peter Leven saying he was unavailable.

A number of other clubs in America, Scotland and England are monitoring his situation.

But St Louis are believed to be leading the race and want to do a deal with Aberdeen ahead of the MLS season starting in March.

Aberdeens new sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel joined the club from St Louis City towards the end of last year.

Fulham must fight to keep Wilson, warns boss Silva

Fulham manager Marco Silva warned the club must do everything they can to keep Harry Wilson after his eighth Premier League goal of the season beat Brighton.

The 28-year-old is out of contract in the summer and it is likely there will be offers to try and tempt him away from Craven Cottage, increasingly so following a brilliant stoppage-time free-kick that sealed a dramatic 2-1 triumph.

It was the latest twist in what is becoming a remarkable breakout campaign for the former Liverpool midfielder, and Silva acknowledged the fight is on to keep him on the books as the weeks count down on his current deal.

We are in the fight, we are trying to keep him, said Silva. If you ask me if its going to be easy, I say its not going to be easy.

The more he scores, many more clubs are going to be around him. This is football business. When a player goes to the end of his contract, this kind of thing is going to happen.

I know hes happy in our club and how much hes enjoying the moment. Its up to the club to do the maximum to keep him.

Wilson, who joined the Cottagers initially on loan in 2021, has now scored in his last three league matches at home, including winning goals against Brighton and Chelsea as well as a goal in the draw with champions Liverpool.

Hes been brilliant for us, said Silva. Hes on a great run but its from the first day of the season. Hes been able to take the responsibility on his back, to be decisive.

We had some very good spells (in the game) but it was not our best performance. He was able to take that free-kick. Im repeating every week, its the best moment of his career. Sometimes, everything comes together.

Nuno: West Ham still need options in the transfer market

Nuno Espirito Santo says West Ham still need new signings to maintain their survival bid after they boosted their chances of beating the drop with a rousing 3-1 win over Sunderland.

The rescue effort is continuing behind the scenes, with Argentinian midfielder Guido Rodriguez missing from the squad ahead of a move to Valencia and Fulham winger Adama Traore close to joining.

Lucas Paqueta was absent again amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future, but there was an appearance on the bench for the lesser-spotted James Ward-Prowse, having previously been frozen out by Nuno.

We have one week to go, said Nuno. I still believe that we need to rebalance our squad. We need options in some positions.

We need to become more competitive. I still believe in the work the club is doing.

Paqueta remains the target of his former club Flamengo in Brazil and is understood to want to leave.

Asked whether he expects to see the Brazilian in a West Ham shirt again, Nuno added: What I hope is the situation to be solved as soon as possible.

Every part involved has to be solved and to be clear, so we have a direction to move forward.
