Robertson's move to Tottenham stalls

Latest from Your Site News' Michael Bridge and Anthony Joseph:

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertsons move to Tottenham Hotspur has stalled.

Its understood the deal was dependent on Liverpool finding cover for their left-back position. They have been trying to recall Konstantinos Tsimikas from his loan at Roma, but have been unable to do so, thus far.

Roma are still looking for a replacement for Tsimikas, so the move has not been completely ruled out. But with just one week left of the transfer window, it is looking more unlikely.

Your Site News revealed that a 5m deal for the Scotland captain was being discussed by the clubs.

Its believed finances were never going to be an issue for Liverpool, given Robertsons contract situation and their relationship with him.

Spurs have been needing experience and the 31-year-old is seen as a proven winner.

The Europa League holders have lost left-back Ben Davies to a serious ankle injury that needs surgery.

The addition of another in that position would mean Djed Spence can move over to his more natural position on the right

The Brazilian window does not close until March.

Emery 'hopeful' Villa complete Abraham deal

Unai Emery said he is "hopeful" Aston Villa will complete the signing of Tammy Abraham.

Your Site News reported Villa scheduled a medical for Abraham on Saturday.

Villa are expected to pay 18.2m (21m) for Abraham.

Villas centre-back Yasin Ozkan, who is currently on loan at Anderlecht, is also expected to sign for Besiktas, the club Abraham is on loan at from Roma.

Ozkans valuation when Villa bought him was 6.9m (8m) so Besiktas are looking at a value in the region of 26m (30m).

Howe: No Jan signings - we've got to use players we have

Eddie Howe has confirmed Newcastle will not invest in the January transfer window following the 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.

Howe said he will look to get the best out of his current squad, rather than searching for reinforcements while being limited by PSR.

The Magpies invested heavily in the summer, signing Nick Woltemade, Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga and Malick Thiaw following the departure of Alexander Isak.

"We have the players that we have, and we have to find a solution with those players," he said in his post-match press conference.

"Theres no point me thinking we need another type of player at this moment because its not going to happen.

"The next chance well really have to change the squad will be the summer.

"Its about getting the best out of the players we have. I dont think we played badly, but certainly around the goal, we could have done better of course."

Leicester considering Cifuentes' future

Latest from Your Site News' Rob Dorsett:

Leicester City are considering the future of manager Marti Cifuentes, following the defeat to Oxford United on Saturday.

Some home fans at King Power Stadium chanted for Cifuentes to be "sacked in the morning" during the game.

Owner and chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha is over from Thailand and watched the game from the directors' box. He has told Your Site News no decision has yet been taken, but he wants to talk to his senior advisers, and Cifuentes himself, before making a decision about the manager's future.

Leicester are awaiting the outcome of an independent commission hearing on alleged PSR breaches. Were they to be given a nine-point deduction as punishment for that, they would be outside the Championship relegation places only on goal difference.
